Apple Pie Porridge

Apple Pie Porridge

A lovely way to use those seasonal apples & spice up your morning porridge. Topped with some sweetened grilled pear slices, toasted nuts, banana & maple syrup  

Ingredients - serves 2

1/2 cup jumbo porridge oats

1 cup whole milk

1/2 cup water

1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

1 small apple, grated 

Toppings:

Banana

1 pear

Knob of butter

A few pinches of demerara sugar

Maple syrup

Toasted nuts (I like flaked almonds & hazelnuts) 

Method

Place oats, milk, water, cinnamon & grated apple into a saucepan over medium heat. Stir very frequently until the porridge is bubbling and hot. Lots of stirring will help the starch come out of the oats and make for a creamier porridge. 

Meanwhile, slice a pear and place in a pan with a knob of butter and a few sprinklings of demerara sugar. Cook over medium heat for a few minutes on each side until soft. 

Place porridge into bowls and top with your sweetened pear slices, toasted nuts, banana & maple syrup.
