Spiced Chilli Hot Chocolate
Autumn is fully upon us and I'm here with a recipe to warm you up on those approaching chilly evenings
A hot chocolate infused with a touch of cinnamon, ginger & chilli. Top with some softly whipped cream & toasted marshmallows for an even bigger treat
The use of both dark and milk chocolate creates a great balance between the flavour of dark chocolate and the sweetness of milk. The chilli adds a little warming heat but feel free to omit it
Ingredients
470ml whole milk
3 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp ginger
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp dried chilli flakes (1/2 tsp if you don't want too much heat)
Pinch salt
180g milk chocolate
150g dark chocolate
Optional toppings:
300ml double cream whipped with 30g sugar
Marshmallows
Extra chocolate, for grating
Method
Warm 235ml milk with the chocolates over medium heat until completely melted and smooth. Add in remaining 150ml milk, sugar, ginger, cinnamon, chilli and salt. Heat until hot (not boiling). Adjust with more milk if you like a thinner consistancy. Strain and serve.
Top with optional cream, marshmallows and grated chocolate.
